Iris and Niek

We have been welcoming guests to Studio Timor since May 2026. A personal private studio where our love of Groningen meets warm hospitality and thoughtful design.

Two backgrounds, one shared sense of hospitality

Our backgrounds are different, but they come together naturally at Studio Timor: care for people, a feel for atmosphere and the drive to keep improving every stay.

Iris

Iris discovered hospitality in Groningen’s restaurant scene, where attention, atmosphere and understanding guests are central. She now works as a lawyer, but still draws on that experience every day. At Studio Timor, she turns it into a warm interior, carefully considered details and a place where guests immediately feel welcome and at ease.

Niek

Hospitality also became familiar to Niek at an early age. His grandparents ran a campsite, so welcoming guests, creating a holiday feeling and recreation were part of life from childhood. He now works as a Marketing Manager and uses that background to keep looking for smarter, more comfortable and more personal touches, and to understand which details truly make a difference to each guest.

From our home to Studio Timor

We bought our home on Timorstraat in 2025. The space that is now Studio Timor gave us the opportunity to create something of our own. We have been welcoming guests here since May 2026, and we are incredibly proud of it.

The name was a natural choice. The studio is in the Indische Buurt and we added subtle Indonesian influences to the colours and interior. The photographs on the wall give the stay an extra personal story.

Neighbourhood calm, city energy

Studio Timor is just outside the city centre, in the quiet Indische Buurt and beside Molukkenplantsoen park. From here, Groningen is easy to explore by bike, while you return home to a peaceful place.

With its own parking space, the studio is also convenient for guests arriving by car. From Timorstraat, you can quickly reach the ring road for a trip beyond the city.

Groningen feels like home

We both spent our student years in Groningen and chose to stay afterwards. To us, that says it all. The city is lively but never feels rushed. You will find culture, restaurants and a vibrant atmosphere, while peace and green spaces are always close by.

That is exactly the combination we aim to reflect at Studio Timor.
